The Lone Star Swing Syndicates roots are traced to the Austin Ben Hur Shrine band that was formed in 1910.   The  Ben Hur Shrine band was one of many Shrine bands across the country that  became very popular and provided music for numerous Shrine and Masonic events  including parades, circuses, social events and hospitals.   Although the Lone Star Swing Syndicate is no longer affiliated with the Shrine,  Shriners are still counted among the band members.   The band carries on the tradition of providing many musicians of all ages and musical ability an opportunity to play big band swing music.  The band has gained an appreciative audience of senior citizens and swing dancers who still enjoy listening and dancing to big band  music.  The Lone Star Swing Syndicate  continues to play the great big band arrangements of the 30's and 40's as well as contemporary arrangements of old standards and jazz tunes.
